Oracle Consultants: Careers, Jobs, Online Courses, Certifications And Training

For tech literate young people, choosing a career path to take can be a daunting task. While database management may not exactly be the most exciting prospect for a lot of college students, they should not ignore the opportunities provided in Oracle careers, especially those for Oracle consultants. Oracle is considered by many to be the premier data management software for businesses, and Oracle consultants can make a considerable amount more than some of their IT counterparts.

The software got its start in 1979 as a data management program, which was rather limited. But its feature set expanded quite quickly and now Oracle has versions on all major operating systems and in dozens of iterations for home, and small and large scale business use. As a result, there are many openings in Oracle careers for potential Oracle consultants that can navigate the imposing management techniques and different versions.

Potential Oracle consultants should know that they need to go through the Oracle certifications process before they can hit the job market. Oracle certifications typically come in six different categories, depending on the level of the Oracle consultants' knowledge and programming skill. Oracle certifications tests run about $90, but it is suggested that students take some courses before attempting the examination.

While there are many universities that offer classes to help those interested in careers as Oracle consultants prepare for the test, one attractive option that has popped up recently is online courses. Online courses allow for a more focused method of study that will get students prepared for the Oracle certifications test without the often unnecessary time and money expended going through a standard four year university.

Businesses should also note that they will need to purchase Oracle licensing if they plan on using the program for their data management. Oracle licensing is sold much in the same way as operating software, with Oracle licensing priced based on the number of database users and the level of software being used. Certified Oracle consultants are often best equipped to determine what kind of Oracle licensing a business will require. Having Oracle consultants, even freelance, on staff is important for any tech-capable business.

Part of the fun of Oracle careers is that individuals with Oracle certifications are in high demand, especially in today's burgeoning tech market where a lot of managers can't be bothered to keep up with the ever changing technological landscape and rely on Oracle consultants to do much of that work for them. Oracle consultants can make anywhere from $30,000 - $100,000 every year, and particularly experienced or skilled workers can earn even more. Also, because workers with Oracle certifications are in high demand, Oracle consultants can often make huge amounts of money freelancing for several different companies at once.

While database management might not seem like the most exciting career choice for a young student, the fact of the matter is that Oracle consultants are in a growing field with good financial prospects. Oracle consultants with high level Oracle certifications are constantly in high demand. Even if it may not be a prospective IT professional dream job, novices should at least look into taking some online courses and learn about Oracle certification and Oracle licensing before passing on this potentially very lucrative career.
