Certification can help students by giving them an industry-recognized credential that showcases their abilities.
If you don't have a degree, a certification may qualify you for the promotion. Ask your boss if certification is right for you.
Depending on your education and work experience there is most likely a certification that is right for you. They include:
Receiving a Certified Engineering Manager (CEM) provides you with the skills and understanding that help improve every aspect of your work and company. It will better business processes, proficiency, customer focus, team work, organization, external enterprise influences, resources, and responsibility. It is awarded to those with a minimum of eight years of education and/or including manufacturing related work experience. There are no prior exams that are required. The exam is one hundred and sixty questions with four hours time to complete. Their website www.sme.org provides links to applications, test sites, and online study guides.
You do not have to be a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers to be certified. However, members do save on application fees and recertification fees. The first certification is valid for three years. Recertification is required for all certifications to remain valid. This ensures that you are up to the minute with the information available. A manufacturing certification can only benefit you and your company.
